6. GENERAL RULES FOR ALL ENTRANTS

  1. (1) All antennas, transmitters, and receivers must be located within a single 500-meter diameter circle.
  2. (2) The use of any technology (QSO finding assistance) that provides call sign or multiplier identification of a signal along with the signal’s frequency information to the operator - such as web clusters, RTTY Skimmer, or Reverse Beacon Network - is permitted.
  3. (3) During the contest, self-spotting and requesting to spot by any means, including amateur radio or non-amateur radio methods (such as mobile phones, email, chat, SNS, etc.), are prohibited.
  4. (4) Remote operation is permitted only if the physical location of all antennas, transmitters, and receivers is at one station location. A remotely operated station must obey all station licenses, operator licenses, and the contest rules.
  5. (5) Use of the remote receivers outside of the station location of transmitters, receivers and antennas is not permitted.
  6. (6) Post-contest correction of contest logs is not permitted.
  7. (7) Submitting logs in more than one category using the same call sign is not permitted.
  8. (8) One operator operating with several different callsigns and submitting logs with each callsign is not permitted.

7. QSO POINTS AND MULTIPLIERS

7-1. QSO POINTS

A station may be worked once on each band for QSO point credit.

  1. - Contacts between stations on the same continent (including the same entity) are worth two (2) points.
  2. - Contacts between stations on different continents are worth three (3) points.

7-2. MULTIPLIERS

Multipliers are as follows: (1) and (2).

  1. (1) Number of different entities (excluding JA/W/VE/VK mainland) per band based on the DXCC list.
JD1 stations on Ogasawara (Bonin and Volcano) Islands are entity multipliers and belong to Asia.
JD1 stations on Minami-tori Shima (Marcus) Island are entity multipliers and belong to Oceania.
  2. (2) Each call area of JA/W/VE/VK mainland per band.
The call area for JA/W/VE/VK (main island) stations is the last digit of the prefix. If a portable designator exists, the call area of that portable designator applies (if the portable designator does not contain a digit indicating a call area, the area is zero (0)).
    (Examples)
    1. JA1 and 7K1 are counted as JA1.
    2. JR4 and 7K4 are counted as JA4.
    3. 8J20 is counted as JA0.
    4. JA1RL/3 is counted as JA3.
    5. VK/JA1YRL is counted as VK0. (This is not counted as VK0 entity but only as a call area.)

7-3. Maritime Mobile Stations on the high seas

Regardless of the Maritime Mobile station's location, contacts with Maritime Mobile stations count as two points and are not counted as multipliers. Scores for Maritime Mobile stations will be published in the contest results, but they are not eligible for awards.

    8. SCORING

(Total QSO points for each band) x (Total multipliers for Entities and Call Areas in each band)

    9. LOG SUBMISSION

    (1) Log Submission methods

Upload a text log file in Cabrillo format (recommended) or JARL electronic log format according to the instructions on the log upload webpage or send it via email to the submission address listed below.
We strongly recommend uploading via the log upload webpage. Log submissions by postal mail will not be accepted.

    (2) Log Instructions

    1. 1) Use UTC time.
    2. 2) It is recommended to log the actual operating frequency in kHz units. However, logging the operating band in MHz units is also acceptable.
    3. 3) For Multi OP, enter callsigns of all operators (or their names if they do not have callsigns) in the OPERATORS line of the Cabrillo log file header. In the JARL electronic log format, enter them in the <MULTIOPLIST> field. In the Multi OP category, if no operator is listed, the entry call sign's operator is considered to have operated alone. Even in such cases, the entry will not be changed to the Single OP category.
    4. 4) For YOUTH Overlay Category: Enter "YOUTH" in the CATEGORY-OVERLAY line of the Cabrillo log file header. In the JARL electronic log format, enter either "YOUTH" or your age in the <AGE> field.
    5. 5) When submitting as a Checklog: Enter "CHECKLOG" in the CATEGORY-OPERATOR line of the Cabrillo log file header. In the JARL electronic log format, enter "CHECKLOG" in the <CATEGORYCODE> field. To mark only specific QSO data lines as Checklog, place an "X" at the beginning of the relevant QSO data line.
    6. 6) JA Station Operating Location: If the operating location differs from the station’s licensed address, enter the prefecture of the operating location in the LOCATION line of the Cabrillo log file header, or in the <OPPLACE> field in the JARL electronic log format. If no operating location is entered, the operating location is in the call area indicated by the call sign (or the area indicated by the portable designator, if present).
