JI1KIT, Silent Key
On May 14, 2000, former Prime Minister Mr. Keizo Obuchi died at the age of 62. A famous radio amateur known as JI1KIT, Mr. Obuchi served as chairman of the Diet Amateur Radio Club since it was set up in 1980. During his tenure, he extended his support for the development of amateur radio. For example, he made great contribution to the launch of Japan's amateur satellites by seeking understanding on the need for such satellites among the government and other organizations.
